About Us
How Silver Hills Started
Brad Brousson and Stan and Kathy Smith were three friends with a shared belief in the incredible power of sprouted grains when they started Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery over 30 35 years ago.
Silver Hills’ founding mission to empower, educate, and inspire people to live healthier lives hasn’t changed since 1989—nor has our belief that investing in your own health is the greatest gift you can give someone because when you are healthy, you will have more to share.
Who We are Today
Today, Silver Hills is still family-owned and family-run by Stan and Kathy Smith (Brad retired in 2024). A thriving four-brand business, we manufacture and market Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery, Little Northern Bakehouse, The Grain Escape, and Carbonaut—and sell all our brands in our Abbotsford retail store and bakery, the Sprouted Oven.
We’re committed to making the best tasting, most nourishing, plant-powerful products possible. Our devotion is our promise, —you can count on the authenticity and healthy goodness of our products. Everything we put in, you get out.
Our Culture
Silver Hills is as diverse as the community we call home. Our team is made of people from all backgrounds and cultures. We celebrate our differences, make sure everyone feels included and welcome. We are a family.
Twice a year, we gather as a company to celebrate our successes and share our plans for what’s ahead. But that’s just one example of our commitment to open communication. From regular team huddles to one-on-ones, we’re always looking for new and better ways to share, to listen, and to work together to create an engaging workplace where mutual respect and feedback are the key ingredients in our recipe for success.
An equal-opportunity employer, at Silver Hills, we promote fair and equal access to employment opportunities, and are committed to creating a harassment-free workplace that honours the individual.
Our Core Values
Silver Hills is a family-run and family-owned company built upon the solid core values we call:
Agility
Integrity
Respect
Listen to understand, value difference, and treat all with kindness, consideration, and gratitude.
