How Silver Hills Started

Brad Brousson and Stan and Kathy Smith were three friends with a shared belief in the incredible power of sprouted grains when they started Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery over 30 years ago.

Silver Hills’ founding mission to empower, educate, and inspire people to live healthier lives hasn’t changed since 1989—nor has our belief that investing in your own health is the greatest gift you can give someone because when you are healthy, you will have more to share.


Who We are Today

Still family-owned and family-run, today Silver Hills is a thriving three-brand business, manufacturing and marketing Silver Hills Sprouted Bakery, Little Northern Bakehouse, and One Degree Organic Foods (separately owned by Stan, Kathy, and family) — and selling all three brands in our Abbotsford retail store and bakery, the Sprouted Oven.

We’re committed to making the best tasting, most nourishing, plant-powerful products possible. Our devotion is our promise, you can count on the authenticity and healthy goodness of our products. Everything we put in, you get out.

Across all our brands, our products are plant-based, and every ingredient we use is guaranteed non-GMO, the way food is meant to be.

Twice a year, we gather as a company to celebrate our successes and share our plans for what’s ahead. But that’s just one example of our commitment to open communication. From regular team huddles to one-on-ones, we’re always looking for new and better ways to share, to listen, and to work together to create an engaging workplace where mutual respect and feedback are the key ingredients in our recipe for success.
